Volkswagen Beetle Additional Information
This lovely Beetle 1300 is amazingly only 3 owners from new. The gentleman we purchased the car from first owned AKT 317K in 1972 when he became the second owner. In 1976 he sold the car to his sister who kept the car until the turn of the millennium when he bought it back.
Sadly at some point in the 1990s the car was involved in a small accident which resulted in the car being registered as a Cat D insurance loss. We are told but have no proof that the damage was minimal and the car was purchased back from the insurance company. It was then used as was for a few years until being put away in storage.
After our customer purchased the car back from his sister he started making plans for a complete restoration. The restoration finally took place in 2012 under the watchful eye of Mike Bolt at Unitex Services in Romford. Mike Bolt was a well known classic VW and Porsche 356 specialist. The lovely Texas yellow paintwork was carried out by Two Tone who were also in Crow Lane Romford. The total amount spent was £9469 of which £2100 went to the paintwork.
This is now considered an older restoration and there are a couple of areas that could possibly require attention, but do not mistake this for some of the usual rubbish at this price range. The floors are solid as are the sills trunk and engine bay. A video for the underneath will be available shortly.
This really nice example represents good value in todays market, and could either be used as is and improved over time or with a little work or investment taken to the next level.
